The axle is oil filled and fitted with ATE single pot calipers and replaceable discs. A multiport master cylinder is used, this allows for double axle configuration.A purpose built inertia coupler is used to activate the master cylinder by means of an adjustable push rod which is returned by means of a gas stay. The stroke of the master cylinder and the stroke of the coupler are matched, thus avoiding damage if there is loss of brake fluid.
This system requires considerable less maintenance than cable operated, drum braked systems.
